The continuous soap opera. The Professional Football League has still not found a clear solution for the broadcast of Ligue 1 from next season. While the resumption date of the championship is approaching, the creation of a dedicated channel patina. In search of partners to launch this new media, the LFP has decided to extend its discussions with Dazn until June 15, as revealed
The team.
Indeed, the LFP, via its commercial subsidiary LFP Media, has been working for several months on a new diffusion model by launching a dedicated chain. The objective is to guarantee directly controlled audiovisual income. For this, discussions are underway with several broadcasters in order to secure the distribution of this future chain and the associated funding.
Dazn could commit to the tune of 110 million euros over two years if it became a project partner. Otherwise, it will have to pay 85 million euros to the LFP for early termination of its current contract. This double scenario maintains strong pressure on negotiations, while other actors like Canal+, BeIN Sports, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ are also surveyed.
The DNCG enters the race
Despite these approaches, no concrete agreement has yet been reached, and time is running out. Professional clubs, whose finances largely depend on TV rights, expect guarantees to establish their budgets. The National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) also called for caution in the financial projections of clubs in the absence of visibility on future revenues.
Less than three months from the resumption of the championship, the LFP is found in a race against the clock to finalize a broadcasting agreement. The launch of an internal chain remains an option on the table, but without a solid partner, its realization remains uncertain.
