Monaco in paradise, Lyon in fog

The final stretch does not forgive anything. This Saturday, in a Louis-II stadium full to fall in tension and issues, Monaco did the job. Two goals, not one more, but a world of difference with an OL that has scuttled in large widths. With this limpid success (2-0), Adi Hütter's men valued their qualification for the Champions League. For Lyon, the mass is almost said: it will take a miracle to snatch a European place, even the most modest.

Lyon pushes… and ends up breaking

However, there was hope. Desire. And some intentions. Lyon started with ambition, carried by the need to win to continue dreaming. Tactically, Fonseca had opted for a conventional 4-3-3 with Lacazette at the forefront, but this choice did not weigh. Clinton Mata, injured in the 22nd, weakened a collective already on the wire. Tessmann has tried to enlighten the midfield with two distant strikes, but too imprecise. Something was missing. Or rather, everything was missing.

Minamino unlocked the situation for Monaco against Lyon.

Minamino and Zakaria, the blow of grace

Monaco was bending his rival to wear. Without panicking, without haste. In the 72nd, Minamino took advantage of a ghostly marking to adjust Lopes with a cross strike from the left. The hinge moment. Less than six minutes later, Denis Zakaria rose in the air to victoriously prolong a free kick from Lamine Camara. The case was classified, and OL never got up.

An end of the season without revolt for OL

No reaction. No burst. Nothing. Lyon died after 2-0 as an oxygen fire. And this collective inertia says everything about the end of the cycle that takes shape. The Champions League dream has evaporated, that of the Europa League seems inaccessible, and even the League conference seems uncertain. The frustration of the quarter -quarter -against Manchester has left traces. The group no longer responds, and the dynamics are broken.

Monaco offers Europe, Lyon enters the fog

Monaco can blow. A season of Constance, shots and a well -oiled collective which finally finds its reward. Adi Hütter knew how to channel the forces of his group to win the European Stripontin. In Lyon, on the other hand, it is total uncertainty. The DNCG is waiting, finances worry, and Textor will have to maneuver tight to avoid a catastrophic summer. In the absence of a fireworks, OL ends the year in the shade.
