In what would be a double sensational transfer, the Merengues are determined to have a plan B, the Saudi pro League being always interested in a transfer for their Brazilian superstar.
The current Vinicius contract in Madrid expires in 2027, and the Merengues wish to extend it in the coming months, in order to avoid being in free transfer situations from 2026.
The main current obstacle seems to be the wish of Vinicius to obtain a salary increase to place it above his teammates Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham and become the best salary of the club, thus breaking the strict wage structure of the Merengue-a measure to which the club president is opposed, Florentino Perez.
This made it possible to maintain the link with Saudi Arabia: its representatives would have met their intermediaries in September, then resumed contact in December, before a face -to -face meeting with Vinicius and his entourage in Prague in February.
Exorbitant figures include a contract offer of one billion euros and a potential transfer compensation of more than 300 million euros.
Vinicius Junior may well leave Real Madrid
Despite the colossal sums at stake, Vinicius's priority seems to be to stay in Madrid, but Perez also plans to take the plunge and sell it. According to Florian Prettenberg, journalist of Sky Sports Germany, Haaland is the player that Real Madrid could consider if Vinicius settles in the Middle East.
Haaland signed a new contract extension with Manchester City in early 2025, binding it to the Etihad Stadium until 2034. However, there is a major obstacle to his departure from Manchester: the new Norwegian contract would apparently not understand a release clause, and the giants of the Premier League could require at least 150 to 200 million euros to consider a sale to a major rival.
