UEFA has just published the financial report for the 2023/2024 season. A document in which the governing body unveils the sums collected by the 32 clubs engaged in the latest version of the Champions League before the passage to 36 this season. As a reminder, each team qualified for the old version of the C1 received a base of € 15.64 million. Added to this are the bonuses linked to the UEFA coefficient, the Market Pool (income linked to marketing and TV rights), then arrive the sums paid according to the performance in the group phase, then during the direct elimination phase.
Sacred for the fifteenth time in its history, Real Madrid is unsurprisingly the team that has received the most money. The Merengues have garnered no less than € 138.795 million. The Casa Blanca is, tied with Manchester City, the training that perceived the largest amount during the group stage (€ 18.284 million). Madrid and Mancunians are ahead of Bayern Munich (€ 16,167 million) and Atlético de Madrid (€ 14.049 million). Paris Saint-Germain, which had fallen into the group of death with AC Milan, BVB and Newcastle), only arrives at the age of thirteenth position, just like AC Milan, Copenhagen and Lens (€ 7.955 million).
PSG crushes everyone at Market Pool
However, despite its average group phase, Paris is the second club in the 2023/2024 edition of the C1 to have received the most money with € 122,444 million. If the red and blue perceived this XXL amount, it is thanks to their route (eliminated in the semi-finals by the BVB). If the group stage has only reported “only” € 7.955, the direct elimination phase allowed Ile -de -France to receive € 32.7 million. But where PSG was very strong, it is with the market pool. The champions of France crushed all of Europe with € 34,148 million collected. Even Real Madrid touched much less (€ 14.311 million).
Another French club engaged in the competition, the RC Lens received a total of € 48.369 million, the 21st club (out of 32) the best paid. Sang and gold have, in addition to the base of € 15.64 million and € 7,955 million in the group stage, € 21.986 million in market pool. Finally, to complete the ranking of the most spoiled clubs, Borussia Dortmund, finalist of the event, is third (€ 120.748 million) and FC Barcelona is only sixth (98.394 M €). Note that the team having received the least money is the Royal Antwerp (Antwerp), which was in the pool of Barça, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Belgians have not garnered “only” € 21.858 million.
