Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has issued a stern warning to his Premier League rivals that the Saudi Pro League could plunder their ranks until September.
As the Premier League transfer window closes on September 1, big-spending Gulf league clubs can buy players until the 20th of the same month – a position Klopp says could take its toll among European teams.
Liverpool have already seen Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson leave the club to join the Saudi Pro League this summer, while Anfield legend Steven Gerrard joined the club to manage Al-Ettifaq and Sadio Mané joined Cristiano Ronaldo at Al -Nassr after a one-season stint at Bayern Munich.
A storm is brewing
Klopp, therefore, believes a storm could be brewing and has called on FIFA and UEFA to take action.
“It’s huge right now,” Klopp told the media when asked about the Saudi Pro League’s influence currently.
“The worst thing is that the transfer window in Saudi Arabia is open for three more weeks. If I’m right, I’ve heard something like that, then at least in Europe it’s not useful.
“UEFA or FIFA must find solutions to this problem. But at the end of the day, right now, I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen.”
This is a loud and clear warning for Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and all other Premier League teams.
