Lille striker Jonathan David is in great demand as a free agent this summer, but his wage requirements could dissuade the giants of the Premier League Manchester United and Liverpool.

David's contract with Lille expires at the end of the season, and as the player categorically refuses to extend, he should be in great demand this summer as a free player. However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri (via Get French Football News), the Canadian's exorbitant salary claims could dissuade potential contenders, including heavy goods vehicles from the Premier League Manchester United and Liverpool.

Last week, the Daily Mail reported that no less than seven Premier League teams were interested in David's free recruitment this summer: Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham.

Tavolieri's information could however put sticks in the wheels of the transfer plans for these teams for this summer. The 25 -year -old calls for a gross annual salary of 7.5 million pounds sterling, as well as a signing bonus of 12.5 million pounds sterling. Additional commissions would then amount to 8.3 million pounds sterling, which means that David's free recruitment operation would cost more than 28 million pounds to the club.

If David's substantial wage requirements would likely encourage the Premier League teams to disinterested, the Giants of Serie A, Juventus and Inter Milan, still wish to attach the services of the Canadian international. Besides, Juventus was already expected for a transfer in January.

David has had an exceptional season, scoring 23 goals in 42 games in all competitions. He is on the way to exceed his personal record of 26 goals in one season with Lille, which he made twice (in 2022-23 and 2023-24). We will see him again in action on Saturday when moving from Lille to Lyon.
