The future repurchase of Malaga continues to cause ink to flow. According to the latest information from The AthleticFenway Sports Group (FSG), owner of Liverpool, plans to acquire the Spanish club in Malaga. A delegation has, in fact, visited the installations in February as part of its strategy “multi-club“, Aiming to relaunch teams with high potential. Malaga, 51 % owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani and 49 % by Blue Bay, could thus benefit from a new investment. As a reminder, FSG had already expressed interest in Bordeaux before withdrawing from negotiations last year.

The acquisition of Malaga is part of a broader approach, FSG having studied other Spanish clubs such as Levante, Elche or Espanyol, while keeping an eye on the French market. At the same time, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), owner of PSG, is also interested in Malaga, seeking to strengthen its European portfolio. FSG, which also has the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Penguins, continues to assess other acquisition opportunities in recent months.
