The arrival of Thiago Motta to Juve will not have been the promised big bang. Landed last summer after qualifying Bologna in C1 for the first time in 59 years, the Italian coach had given birth to immense hopes for the Juventini. More than seven months later, forced to note that the transplant has never taken: the Bianconeri are 5th of Serie A, eliminated from the Champions League from the 1/16th against the PSV, eliminated from the Italian Cup from the 1/4 against Empoli, were also beaten in the Italian Super Cup by AC Milan, and they never sketched large impulses in the game which could call for optimism.
Conjugated to this the last two shattering setbacks against Atalanta (4-0) and Fiorentina (3-0), the Turin leaders had no more reasons for stretching their collaboration with their coach, whose popularity rating had already plummeted in the locker room for a good time. The inevitable therefore took place and Thiago Motta was thanked by Juventus during this truce. And as expected, the double winner of the C1 has indeed chosen to replace it with the volcanic Igor Tudor, preferred to Roberto Mancini.
He knows the house well for having played there as a player
Free since his dismissal from Lazio Rome in June 2024, the former OM coach signed a one -year contract, plus an additional year activated in the event of qualification in the Champions League at the end of the season (Juventus is currently 5th, at 1 point of Bologna). “Juventus FC announces that it has noted Thiago Motta from its functions as coach of the male first team. Igor Tudor will therefore know his tenth experience as a coach, the fourth in Italy after having coached Udinese, Hellas Verona, and Lazio Rome (he was also assistant to Juventus between August 2020 and May 2021). The 46 -year -old Croatian also has the advantage of knowing the house well for having evolved as a player at Juventus between 1998 and 2007, where he had rubbed shoulders with a certain Didier Deschamps at the time. It remains to be seen if he will be able to find so much stability as a coach, he who has never done more than two years in a row on the same bench.
