The Catalan giant has invested 1.25 billion pounds sterling to give a serious facelift to its famous stadium. The initial plan provided that the renovated stadium was ready for the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of Barcelona in November 2024.
This deadline has passed without any information being given as to the date on which the Camp Nou will be operational enough to accommodate its supporters again. This ambitious project plans to carry the capacity of the most emblematic sports enclosure in Catalonia from 99,354 to 105,000 seats.
A video of the Barcastory Youtubeur shows that no supporter should enter the Camp Nou soon. There is still a lot of work to do, with thousands of seats to install. A recent article by REVO says that the stadium roof will not be installed before the summer of 2026.
An unfinished dream?
Barcelona could return there before this date, the return date being set at October 2025, the contenders for the Liga currently playing their home matches at the Olympic stadium Lluis Companys, with a capacity of 54,000 places.
Once finished, Camp Nou will become the largest stadium in Europe, thanks to breathtaking plans. It remains to be seen when Lamine Yamal and his teammates will again work on this legendary lawn and if the club legend, Lionel Messi, will see his wish granted: playing it one last time.
