Liverpool find the thread. After having recited the lesson to all their opponents in the first part of the season, the Reds struggled to extend this dynamic at the start of 2025. Their only victory was then won in the CUP against Accrington (5-0), modest 5th division team. But that's it, Liverpool is breathing better, and Darwin Núñez too. Traveling to Brentford this Saturday, Arne Slot's players won 2-0 thanks to a double from their Uruguayan striker. However, they kept the suspense going until the end, since their first goal came in the 90+1st minute of play, after 35 vain attempts. Núñez broke the deadlock on a serve from Alexander-Arnold, his 5th offering of the season, before making the break two minutes later on a caviar from Elliott.

In the standings, Liverpool obviously remains leader and puts Arsenal on 7 points (the Gunners play this evening against Aston Villa). Brentford may have regrets, and remains 11th. At the same time, we note the success of Fulham against Leicester (2-0). The Cottagers' two goals are to the credit of Smith Rowe (48th) and Adama Traoré (68th). Things are seriously complicated for Ruud van Nistelrooy's Foxes, 19th in the championship. Finally, Graham Potter's West Ham was beaten by Crystal Palace (0-2), with a double from Mateta, and therefore did not have a second success.
