The L’Equipe channel hoped to make a major change in 2025, in order to boost its audiences. It won’t be anything in the end…

The year 2025 could have been the year of moving for the L’Equipe channel. His goal was not to leave his studios located in Boulogne-Billancourt, on the outskirts of Paris. No, the channel’s plan was to change slots on the TNT antennas.

This year, the French television panorama will evolve. The ARCOM (Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication) decided to withdraw their authorization from antennas like C8 and NRJ12 to broadcast unencrypted on DTT, which left “holes” in the list of channels. And this position in the grid was highly coveted.

Last November, Le Parisien revealed that the L’Equipe channel had written to ARCOM to request slots no. 8 and no. 12 of the TNT schedule. His goal? Attract an even stronger audience by getting closer to the most popular channels such as TF1, France 2 and M6.

The L’Equipe channel overtaken by Gulli

Unfortunately for the L’Equipe channel, its request was not accepted. ARCOM has published the list of channels which will come into force next June. On channel no. 8, we will now find La Chaîne Parlementaire. On the 12, it will be Gulli. The L’Equipe channel will retain its current positioning (channel 21), between TF1 Séries Films and 6Ter.

This is a real blow for the L’Equipe channel, which nevertheless wishes to continue its progress. The channel achieves good audiences with its debate shows, or its broadcasts of live events, such as the biathlon, the Dakar or even the world darts championships. Sunday, L’Equipe broadcast the final of the Spanish Super Cup between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, with an audience rating to boot.
