Pep Guardiola would like to shake up Manchester City’s plans by integrating Claudio Echeverri, nicknamed the “new Messi”, into the first team.

Faced with a series of injuries which are decimating his offensive sector (Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne in particular), Pep Guardiola could upset Manchester City’s plans by integrating the young Argentinian prodigy Claudio Echeverri into the first team.

Initially planned to join Girona on loan after his arrival next January, the 18-year-old could finally start in the colors of the Sky Blues sooner than expected. According to The Mirrorthe Spanish manager would like to be able to count on him this winter.

A bold bet to strengthen the attack

Compared to Lionel Messi, Claudio Echeverri is considered one of the greatest prospects in Argentine football. Recruited for 29 million euros in 2023 by the Citizens, he continued his development with River Plate until the end of the season in Argentina.

“He has the talent and maturity to establish himself quickly,” confided a person close to Pep Guardiola to the English press. With a weakened attack and limited options, the Catalan coach hopes that the creativity and enthusiasm of the South American jewel will breathe new life into his team.
