This weekend, the big Premier League match took place in London. In great form for several weeks, Chelsea traveled to the pitch of their neighbor Tottenham to assert themselves as a credible candidate for second place. Facing the Blues, Tottenham had great ambitions and wanted to return to success after three games without a victory in all competitions. To do this, Ange Postecoglou decided to leave James Maddison on the bench but relied on an attack led by a Solanke-Kulusevski-Johnson trio. An explosive trio which did a lot of harm to the Blues at the start of the match. Well helped by Marc Cucurella’s unfortunate slip, Brennan Johnson rushed in and slipped a dangerous ball towards Solanke.

Skillfully, the Chelsea-trained striker passed in front of Levi Colwill to adjust Robert Sanchez (1-0, 5th). On fire, the Spurs doubled the lead a few minutes later after a great individual exploit from Dejan Kulusevski who also took advantage of a slip from Cucurella to give his team the break (2-0, 11th). To offer an unbridled start to the match, Chelsea now had to show up. And on a distant and well-placed strike from Jadon Sancho (2-1, 17th), the residents of Stamford Bridge regained hope. From then on, the first act was less lively but there was no shortage of opportunities: while Son did not get on target (24th) and Pape Matar Sarr (34th) hit the crossbar, Chelsea were close to equalizing but the double opportunity of Palmer and Neto did nothing against Imperial Forster (30th). Finally, Tottenham returned to the locker room with the advantage in the score.
Enzo Fernandez-Palmer duo overthrow Tottenham
After returning from the locker room, Chelsea wanted to get back into the game quickly. More incisive than in the first period and able to rely on the entry of a lively Malo Gusto, the Blues gained the upper hand over their hosts. And after the dangerous attempts of Sancho (48th) and Enzo Fernandez (52nd) well repelled by a vigilant Forster, Chelsea definitely returned to the game with a symbolic action. Having more bite than his opponent, Moises Caicedo grabbed the ball in the Tottenham area and pushed Yves Bissouma after being behind his opposite number. A godsend for Cole Palmer who scored his eleventh penalty in as many attempts in the Premier League to equalize (2-2, 61st). An asserted superiority for Chelsea which could nevertheless have seen the mischief of Heung-min Son allow Tottenham to return to the game. Fortunately for Enzo Maresca’s flock: the South Korean completely missed his curled shot when he was alone against Robert Sanchez (65th).
A failure with serious consequences, because, three minutes later, Enzo Fernández took advantage of the incredible work of Cole Palmer to allow Chelsea to take the advantage with a beautiful volley from the left (2-3, 68th) . Decidedly above, Chelsea even took off with a very nice panenka from Cole Palmer following a stupid foul in the area by Sarr (4-2, 83rd). At the very end of the match, Son reduced the gap from a corner but it was too late (3-4, 90+6th). With this intoxicating success, Chelsea confirms its incredible form and asserts itself as one of the most pleasant teams to watch in Europe today. A victory which allows the Londoners to climb to second place in the Premier League. On the other hand, this new setback sinks Tottenham. In great difficulty for several weeks, the Spurs are stuck in a worrying eleventh place in the standings. Worse still, Ange Postecoglou’s men will be without Micky Van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Brennan Johnson in the coming weeks as all three men are out injured this Sunday. The party in Chelsea’s apartment, the head of the bad days in the next landing.
