The turnaround that no one saw coming finally arrived in the Yan Diomandé case. While he seemed to be heading towards Paris Saint-Germain, a club with which an agreement had been reached on the terms of a five-year contract, the Ivorian international (14 caps) finally snubbed the Parisian club to join Real Madrid. As revealed by us, the Merengue club has found common ground with RB Leipzig for a transfer worth 125 million euros, accompanied by 15 million bonuses, 10 of which are easily attainable. The former Leganés player signed a contract until 2033 to become the most expensive player in the history of Real Madrid, ahead of Jude Bellingham.

RB Leipzig and Real Madrid have agreed on a transfer for Yan Diomandé. With 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 official matches, Yan stood out across Europe in his first season for RB Leipzig. Now, the 19-year-old joins the record-breaking club in Spain. Good luck for your future, Yan! », announced the Germans. The Madrilenians specified: “Real Madrid CF and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Yan Diomande, who will be linked to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033.”

From Léganés to Real Madrid in one year

Revelation of the 2025/2026 Bundesliga season, Yan Diomandé made everyone agree in Germany, establishing himself as the best “rookie” in the championship across the Rhine and impressing with his speed and technical qualities. His one and only season at the Saxon club, culminating in a record of 12 goals and 8 assists in the Bundesliga, obviously caught the eye of the biggest European clubs, starting with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds had drawn a first offer of 100 million euros for the former Leganés player. An insufficient amount for RB Leipzig.

Ultimately, the English club never came back for Diomandé, since the winger initially favored the Parisian project. After reaching an agreement with the player, PSG only had to find common ground with the RBL on the transfer fee. An agreement which took a long time to be finalized, thus leaving the possibility for other clubs to try their luck. This is how Real Madrid discreetly interfered in this matter and managed to get past PSG. After long negotiations, Leipzig finally gave in to the huge offer made by Real. Diomandé becomes, for his part, the first Ivorian player to play for the Merengue club, the most expensive African player in the history of football, and joins the top 10 most expensive transfers in world football.
