Ruud Van Nistelrooy has not yet fully digested his ouster from Manchester United. Very recently appointed new coach of Leicester City, the Dutch technician returned to his difficult departure from the Red Devils. “When I took over the caretaker job (editor’s note: after the departure of Erik ten Hag), I said I was here to help United and to stay, and I meant it. So I was disappointed, really disappointed, and it hurt me to have to leave.”explained the former attacker at the microphone of the BBC.

While Ruud Van Nistelrooy would have liked to keep a place on Ruben Amorim’s technical staff, as an assistant, this ultimately did not happen. “In the end I understood because I also understand the new coach. I’ve been in football for quite a long time and I’ve gotten by. I understand”assured the 48-year-old coach, not resentful towards his successor. Now on the Leicester side, the Batavian wants to turn this page and focus on the future.
