Rodri was named the 2024 Ballon d’Or last month, edging out Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr for the coveted award. After the 28-year-old sent a warning of sorts to the winger, the Brazilian’s compatriot Neymar came to his rescue by lashing out at the Spaniard.
Rodri said this week: “ I think he (Vinicius Jr) is a smart guy and he will realize with time that the more he pays attention to the pitch, the better he will be. Like everyone, he has areas for improvement on and off the field. He’s young, I’m sure people will give him good advice and even more when he’s in Madrid. It’s a club with values. »
Neymar has chosen his side
Then, in an Instagram post, Al-Hilal’s Neymar commented: “He (Rodri) has become talkative now. »
There appears to have been some resentment surrounding this Ballon d’Or, which began with Real Madrid boycotting the Paris ceremony when they learned Vinicus was not going to win. And it seems these latest comments are just adding fuel to the fire.
As City’s Rodri continues his recovery from a season-ending knee injury, Vinicius will focus on Real’s La Liga trip to Leganes on Sunday.
