Still undefeated and uncompromising leader in the championship, the
Paris Saint-Germain was back at it again this Friday to try to consolidate his leadership position. The objective was clear: to gain confidence and regain distance from the Monegasque runner-up, who had faced Brest a little earlier in the evening.
Deprived of his captain Marquinhos, but also of Nuno Mendes, Mayulu, Lucas Hernandez, Kimpembe and Gonçalo Ramos, Luis Enrique was faced with a small headache for this match. The Spaniard could offer a dress rehearsal by fielding a competitive eleven or perform a wide rotation. He finally opted for a well-remodeled eleven, with the tenure of Safonov, Skriniar, Beraldo and Doué.
The jewel of Joao Neves
If Paris was obviously favorite for this meeting, there was no question of looking down on Téfécé. Luis Enrique had not forgotten the Toulouse victory which had spoiled the title celebration at the Parc des Princes, a few months ago (3-1). The Parisians were therefore serious and diligent enough to avoid the trap set by a Toulouse team in great form in recent weeks.
After a relatively locked first half hour thanks to the Toulouse block, PSG broke the deadlock through Joao Neves. the little Portuguese nugget unleashed a superb volley which hit the mark at the edge of the area (1-0, 35th). A goal which placed the Parisians in a comfortable position. Effective offensively, serious defensively, the French champions managed this advantage rather well, even if the valiant Téfécé could have resurfaced in a sequence where the 1-1 was closer to 2-0, but Babicka came up against Safonov (80th).
Toulouse had missed its chance, and PSG put their foot on the accelerator again at the end of the match, adding two new goals on an opportunistic recovery from Beraldo (2-0, 84th) and a magnificent technical sequence from Vitinha (3- 0.90e+1). Paris is capitalizing before a crucial match in Munich in the Champions League.
