The group stage of the Nations League is over. Now it’s time for money time. Like every year, UEFA arranged to meet the nations concerned in Nyon in order to carry out several draws. First of all there were the posters concerning the relegation and promotion playoffs between the four Leagues. Starting with the posters between the two best fourth-placed teams in League C (Latvia, Luxembourg) and the two best second-placed teams in League D (Malta, Gibraltar).
Then, the four third-placed groups in League B (Slovenia, Georgia, Iceland, Republic of Ireland) will face the four second-placed groups in League C (Slovakia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Armenia). The third draw concerned the duels between the four third-placed groups in League A (Scotland, Serbia, Hungary, Belgium) and the four second-placed groups in League B (Greece, Austria, Turkey, Ukraine).
France could find Spain in the semi-finals
Finally, UEFA carried out the most anticipated draw of the ceremony, namely that of the quarter-finals. A draw which concerned France. Coming first in the group at the last minute after their great victory in Italy, the Blues were assured of being seeded. Which allowed them to avoid the Spanish title holders and European champions, Germany and Portugal. The draw was also rather lenient for the Blues, who inherited Croatia.
Portugal will face Denmark, while we have two other top-flight quarters with Netherlands-Spain and Italy-Germany. And that’s not all since there was also the draw for the semi-finals. And there, things could get bad for France which, if it gets rid of Croatia, will fall on the winner of Netherlands-Spain. As a reminder, all the playoff matches and the quarter-finals will take place on Thursday March 20 and Sunday March 23, 2025. The semi-finals are scheduled for June 4 and 5, 2025. The match for third place and the final will take place on Sunday June 8, 2025.
