FC Barcelona has confirmed its decision to cancel the friendly match against Juventus as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.
The Blaugrana were due to start their pre-season campaign with a clash against the Serie A giants at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The game was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. local time on July 22 on the west coast of the United States, with an early kick-off for fans in Britain (3:30 a.m. on July 23) and Spain (4:30 a.m. on July 23), but it will not take place.
A gastric virus
FC Barcelona made the decision around seven hours before kick-off after raising concerns about the spread of a gastric virus among their traveling squad.
The club have chosen not to give details of the sick players and will provide an update on the rest of the tour in the coming days.
The team’s next game is against Arsenal in the Premier League on July 27 in Los Angeles, and the club’s medical staff will be working hard to ensure that this appointment is kept.
