The 2024/2025 season is only just beginning, but OM management is already thinking about the next one. The club is exploring several options for reinforcements. And one of them would lead to an Algerian.
According to the Spanish daily AS, the Marseille club is eyeing Ibrahim Maza, the Algerian prodigy from Hertha Berlin (German D2). He is only 18 years old.
The first Algerian at OM in ten years?
Maza recently made his debut for the Algerian national team. Coach Vladimir Petkovic made him play two matches last October. He also called him up for the November rally, but the player had to withdraw due to injury.
Maza is still under contract with his Berlin team until 2027. His market value is estimated at 8 million euros. Besides OM, other clubs are interested in his services, such as Atlético Madrid, Brentford or Leicester.
The last two Algerians to have worn the colors of OM are Foued Kadir and Billel Omerani. It was during the 2014/2015 season. But other players from this country have passed through this club such as Djamel Belmadi, Karim Ziani or Salim Arrache.
