After scoring three goals this season, Manchester City central defender John Stones has caught the eye of manager Pep Guardiola. The Catalan coach even suggested, in a humorous way, that Stones could replace Erling Haaland in attack if necessary. “I am thinking of playing him as an attacker if Erling is not available, he has this sense of goal”said Guardiola, referring to Stones’ impressive performances, notably in the match against Sparta Prague (5-0 victory).

Stones, a new offensive weapon?

Stones, often compared to Gerard Piqué by Guardiola, has shown goalscoring qualities this season, with decisive goals against Arsenal and Wolverhampton. Although Guardiola jokes about a possible repositioning of Stones, these performances underline his growing importance within the team.
