Eric Roy, the coach of Stade Brestois, paid tribute to his players after the great performance against Leverkusen this Wednesday.

Stade Brestois once again made a good impression in the Champions League this Wednesday. Opposed to Leverkusen at home, the Finistère team managed to glean the point of a draw (1-1). And there was even room to do better. Eric Roy, his coach, could only be proud when the final whistle blew.

Roy proud but…

“We really put this great Leverkusen team in difficulty, especially in the second half. I’m proud of my players, they did the right thing. It’s not a victory but an encouraging match for the future”he confided in a pre-match press conference.

While saying he was happy, Roy admitted that he would not have spit on two additional points at the end of this evening:
“We obviously have a little regret at not having made the difference when we were well in the match. They didn’t have much opportunity. We worked well collectively. This competition gives us extra soul. We don’t cheat. It’s up to us to put ourselves in working order now to advance in the championship.”

Finally, Roy called on his players not to get carried away by this great start to C1: “We pushed them hard for 20/25 minutes in the second half. I am obviously proud to have taken a point against Leverkusen. We still have to improve and we could have done the first half like the first. Now, back on earth, in 3 days we will have to do it again against Reims.”
