The UNFP ship changes captain… 55 years later. Philippe Piat, who has led the French players’ union for more than half a century, has just found a successor in the person of David Terrier, who becomes the fifth president in the history of the National Union of Professional Footballers. “During the elective general meeting of this Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Paris, David Terrier (51 years old) was unanimously elected president of the French footballers’ union”wrote the union in an official press release.

Philippe Piat will nevertheless retain his status as honorary president of the UNFP. The election of the former FC Metz player was obviously not a surprise within the organization. David Terrier has worked extremely hard over the past two years to prove he can do the job. During his mandate, the latter will be able to count on Fabien Safanjon as vice-president, but also on Eugénie Le Sommer, the Olympique Lyonnais player, is now the general secretary of the UNFP steering committee.
