Juventus supporters’ patience with Luciano Spalletti is reaching its limits. After the latest poor performances of the Old Lady, some fans are calling for the return of Antonio Conte, twelve years after his departure. According to a survey of SportMediaset having collected nearly 14,000 responses, 66% of voters want to find the current coach of Naples. Renowned for his ability to turn around teams in difficulty, the former Turin midfielder could breathe new life into a group lacking confidence.
But this return would also present several obstacles. The system favored by Conte, with a three-way defense, efficient pistons and an attacker capable of playing with his back to goal, does not necessarily correspond to the profiles of the current squad. His intensive training methods could also arouse reluctance, while his salary and the club’s financial difficulties would complicate the operation. If Conte represents a guarantee of competitiveness and qualification for the Champions League, his ability to take Juventus very far in the competition remains unknown. For now, Spalletti keeps his job, but the pressure is mounting in Turin.
