For months, Paris Saint-Germain and Paris City Hall have been engaged in a merciless war over the Parc des Princes. Through the press, the two parties are sticking to their position: PSG wishes to become the owner of the Park, but the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, categorically refuses this option. Problem is, the Île-de-France region got involved in the discussions and reserved an area of 50 hectares to accommodate a new stadium for the capital club. An initiative that Paris City Hall wishes to cancel, via legal proceedings.

It is in this electric context that the Paris Council took place this Thursday, chaired by Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The 163 elected officials present were invited to vote in favor or against the legal action envisaged by the Paris town hall against the IDF region to cancel the reservation of land in favor of PSG. As reported France Info92 votes were in favor, 33 against and 25 abstained. But despite this vote in favor of the municipality, the debates during this Paris Council were very lively. “ But don’t you have better things to do, Madam Mayor? (…) It seems that you understand nothing about football or negotiations. You despair PSG supporters and football lovers in Paris », said David Alphand, co-president of the Changer Paris group, in comments relayed by The Parisian. To which Hidalgo replied: “ PSG is Paris and Paris is the Parc des Princes. We have tried on several occasions to renew discussions with the club to find a solution, without going into the sale of the Park, with the aim of not robbing Parisians of their property. We are not taking legal action against PSG, but rather against the region. »
