If the financial situation of Olympique Lyonnais has improved, the Rhone club must still make great efforts and several players will have to be sold during the transfer window.

The summer promises to be once again hectic in Lyon. A first recruit should also arrive in the coming hours since the young Kaïl Boudache, at the end of his contract in Nice, has given his agreement to the Lyon leaders. Another file seems to be on track, that of Mads Midstrup, the captain of RB Salzburg.

Under contract until 2029, the Danish midfielder is indeed excited about the idea of joining OL. However, discussions with the Austrian club promise to be tight. “ Transfers of 15, 20 million, it’s over, for the moment, warned Matthieu Louis-Jean, the Lyon sports director, at RMC.
Eventually, we’ll see. »

The club’s financial situation may have improved drastically, but the balance remains fragile and OL will also have to sell several players to stay on track. “We have a sales objective, we have a plan with UEFA and the DNCG. No precise amount, it will also depend on qualification for the Champions League or not, the Europa League or not. At least two players will leave. And maybe more”, he announced.

Five non-transferable players

To meet the objective set by UEFA and the DNCG, OL must release 150 million euros by June 2027, including nearly 90 million before the end of 2026. Five players are nevertheless deemed non-transferable: Dominik Greif, Moussa Niakhaté, Tyler Morton, captain Corentin Tolisso, and one of the two left wingers, Malick Fofana or Afonso Moreira.

To compensate, OL hopes to make new moves “Endrick style” and does not completely close the door to a return of the Brazilian prodigy, loaned last winter by Real Madrid and completely revived, to the point of being called up by Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup. “At this moment, I would say no. Impossible. Now… Often, Endrick talks about God (smile). We will see later, whispered the sportsman’s boss. He’s a very good boy. So he agreed to participate in next season’s jersey campaign. »
