Candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid, Enrique Riquelme spoke this morning in the columns of Marca. He notably promised big names to the Merengues. This evening, he brought it up again during an interview with ABC. “We have recruited two international stars (…) I have an agreement that, if I become president, two major international stars will play for Real Madrid. Two essential stars for the short, medium and long term sporting project.” He then assured that he would announce the names over the next two weeks.

Regarding the future coach, he admitted to respecting José Mourinho while ensuring that he is not necessarily the best choice according to him. On the other hand, he is more of a fan of Jürgen Klopp. “I love Klopp. I’ve said it before in 2021. He’s a good manager and a good coach, but I also appreciate other coaches, not just Klopp. Besides, Klopp now works for Red Bull. We’ll see what happens in the next few days, but obviously I would love to see him coach Real Madrid sooner or later. What I am convinced of is that Real Madrid cannot afford to experiment with coaches. It’s not a club for that. Real Madrid cannot afford to go two seasons without a project. When I say that the best must arrive, I mean the best, in all positions. We cannot experiment with management and decision-making.” The message is rather clear.
