Ligue 1+ continues its discussions with Canal+ as part of discussions around the distribution of the championship.

Is the return of Ligue 1 to its former historic broadcaster taking shape? The issue has clearly gained momentum in recent days, after the statements of Maxime Saada, president of Canal+, who said he was open to distribution of Ligue 1+ from next season.

Opposite, the speech remains measured but firm concerning a possible return of Canal+. “The door is open, but not under any conditions”indicated Jérôme Cazadieu, marketing and editorial director of the LFP channel, at the microphone of RMC this Sunday, May 17.

“The conditions must be met so that we have distribution in the same way as the other distributors we have today. Which was not the case with what was proposed by Canal+ last summer”however, clarified the manager, confirming important blocking points.

A planned price increase

The LFP has in fact set two conditions. She wants the legal proceedings against her to end and Ligue 1+ to be included in the encrypted channel’s sports pack “to reach as many people as possible who are subscribers” and give yourself
“the best chance of having the best possible distribution”.

Finally, Cazadieu recognized that the subscription prices for Ligue 1+ “are bound to evolve”while the channel will recover the entire French Championship next season, as well as the broadcast of Ligue 3. He guaranteed, however, that “those who have subscribed this season will benefit from a preferential rate”.
