The Spanish Association of Football Referees (AESAF) is shaking up the president of Real Madrid. Indeed, this Friday, she commented on the remarks made by Florentino Pérez during his unprecedented press conference held on Tuesday. The AESAF believes that the president of Real Madrid has made very serious accusations against Spanish arbitration, in particular citing corruption, stolen titles and even illicit enrichment. In her press release, she therefore recalls several disrespectful messages from him and clearly displays her intention: to request a disciplinary file against the manager for his statements.
“AESAF considers that these statements cannot be supported by the legitimate exercise of freedom of expression or sports criticism, given that Mr. Pérez does not limit himself to reporting one-off refereeing errors, but attributes to the refereeing body the perpetration of a continuous crime of corruption for two decades. Likewise, the AESAF emphasizes that the president of Real Madrid acts at all times as the supreme institutional representative of one of the most publicized clubs in the world. The AESAF also requests that the Competition Committee adopts as a preventive and urgent measure an injunction to Mr. Pérez to stop issuing declarations of a similar nature during the processing of the procedure; that its obligation to compensate the arbitration collective for the moral, reputational and professional damage caused is declared; and that Real Madrid CF is required to issue a public statement of rectification and apology” can we read in the official document.
