While his future now seems to be moving away from Brest, Grégory Lorenzi has been emphatically announced on the side of Olympique de Marseille in recent days. Stade Brestois has also made its departure official at the end of the season. Disappointed by an exercise considered largely below expectations, the Marseille club wishes to restructure its sporting organization and would see in Lorenzi the ideal successor to Mehdi Benatia.
Several sources even mention an agreement already well advanced for the imminent arrival of the Brest leader, in office since 2016. But the file is far from being completed. At the same time, OGC Nice remains very present in the discussions and could seriously complicate Marseille’s plans.
According to Nice-Morningthe situation would even be particularly tense. Before the recent merger with OM, Grégory Lorenzi would have already signed a commitment with the Riviera club. An element which would place Nice in a position of strength in this matter, even if several gray areas still remain, in particular due to the sporting situation of the club.
A legal battle in sight?
The Nice leaders would also intend to assert this agreement as soon as their maintenance in Ligue 1 is officially assured. A legal battle between the two clubs can therefore no longer be ruled out in the coming weeks.
While waiting for the last day of the championship, where Nice will still play its future in the elite, the trend nevertheless remains favorable to the arrival of Grégory Lorenzi in Marseille. The operation could, however, involve compensation in order to avoid a greater conflict between the different parties.
