Bayern-PSG, and now the conspiracy theory

The elimination of Bayern against PSG continues to cause reactions in Germany. Some even go so far as to speak of a conspiracy against the people of Munich.

The end of Bayer Munich’s European adventure is causing a lot of noise in Germany. Exited in the semi-final of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain (5-4, 1-1), the Bavarians are having a hard time digesting the failure. But it is especially from the German observers that the reactions are the most virulent. Mr. Pinheiro’s arbitration gave rise to conspiratorial suspicions.

Several decisions by the man with the whistle have upset the various German consultants to the highest degree. An offside signal against Harry Kane (23rd), but especially the unsanctioned hand of Nuno Mendes (28th), while the Lustinian side had already received a yellow, greatly displeased.

Former Bayern Munich player between 2002 and 2006, Michael Ballack was on Wednesday evening at the microphone of DAZN and he did not hesitate to imply that a plot had been hatched against the Munich club. At least that’s what the German media Bild headlined when relaying his remarks. Ballack therefore let out a little shouting about this famous arbitration decision which spared Nuno Mendes. “This situation changed the match. (…) I had the impression that they did not want to give the second yellow card. »

And Michael Ballack continues in the same register.
“That’s my impression as a spectator. I say it very frankly. Sometimes we try to influence the course of a match. » Realizing that he had perhaps gotten a little carried away, the former international concluded: “I don’t want to accuse him of anything, but the situation did not justify this decision. »

Joao Neves’ involuntary, non-whistled hand in the Parisian area, on a clearance from Vitinha, was also not whistled but on this occasion, Mr. Pinheiro only applied the regulations. Whatever happens, the pill does not pass on Bayern’s side. As for PSG, they are already looking towards the final which awaits them on May 30 against Arsenal.
