“My future? I feel very good, I feel very happy here. I’m happy with my teammates and for the rest, I entrust that to God. If I have to return to Real, I will return to Real, if I have to extend here, it will happen, we will see. I would like to stay here, everyone does their best to make me feel good”. These were the words of Endrick on Sunday evening in front of the cameras of League 1+.
Author of a big match against Stade Rennais during his team’s 4-2 victory, during which he scored a goal, the little Brazilian prodigy opened the door to a new season in Rhone. A first step forward therefore for a possible extension of the loan, while the Lyonnais have no purchase option, nor clause to activate a second loan in the deal which was concluded with Real Madrid last winter.
Real Madrid are counting on him
So can Endrick really stay in Lyon? The trend remains clearly negative, at least for the interests of Olympique Lyonnais. In Spain, there is no doubt that Real Madrid are counting on him for next season. At the end of last week, the media A.S. explained that the Merengue management had already spoken with the Brazilian to let him know that they were counting on him for next season. A rather important place is even already reserved for it. “There will be no more loans, and there will be no sales”explained the newspaper, while an interest from Arsenal had also been mentioned among our Iberian colleagues.
It must be said that in addition to his convincing performances in Ligue 1, Endrick will arrive in a team where Rodrygo is injured and will be unavailable for the first months of the season, and his competitor Gonzalo Garcia should leave. Just like Real should not recruit in attack, to the point where Endrick is already considered the “recruit” of the summer in Madrid. Perfect context for him therefore. For OL to have minimal possibilities of reversing the trend, the player would have to clearly position himself in this direction with the leaders of Real Madrid, which still seems quite unlikely at the time of writing these lines. Especially if the Merengues have already guaranteed him some playing time. Last hope for OL: the arrival of a new coach who might not necessarily count on Endrick, despite the advice of management. But it would also be rather surprising given the qualities displayed by the former Palmeiras player and Real Madrid’s problems ahead… Everything therefore indicates that OL will have to cope without their number 9 next season…
