This Sunday, the 32nd day of La Liga pitted two contenders for Europe against each other with Villarreal (3rd) and Celta de Vigo (7th). A meeting where the yellow submarine took a big step towards qualifying for the Champions League. Marcelino’s men quickly found the fault from the penalty spot thanks to Gerard Moreno (2nd). A perfect start converted shortly before the half-hour mark with a new achievement. Well found by Afonso Pedraza, Nicolas PĂ©pĂ© was responsible for doubling the lead for Villarreal (29th).

Celta de Vigo nevertheless did not give up with the reduction of the score from the penalty spot by Borja Iglesias (73rd). However, this was not enough to snatch a draw. With their 2-1 victory, Villarreal is third, nine points behind Real Madrid (2nd) and 15 points ahead of Real Betis Balompié (5th). In other words, one point in the last five days would be enough to ensure qualification for the Champions League. Celta de Vigo remains seventh with the same number of points as Getafe (6th) provisionally qualified in the Europa Conference League.
