Qualified for the semi-finals of the Conference League, for the very first European final four in its history, RC Strasbourg made a significant leap in the UEFA club rankings. PSG also gained a place.

Like the Fifa World Ranking with all the national teams of the planet, UEFA obviously keeps its ranking of European clubs up to date. It is the famous UEFA coefficient established over the last five seasons (including the current financial year), which determines the hats during the draws. PSG and RC Strasbourg, the two French clubs qualified in the last four of a European Cup, are taking the opportunity to climb the rankings this week.

The reigning European champion was until then only 6th in the club rankings but his qualification for the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of Liverpool (2-0, 0-2) allowed him to steal 5th place from Manchester City, eliminated in the round of 16 by Real Madrid. Ahead of PSG, we find Bayern who are the new European number 1 ahead of the Merengues, as well as Liverpool and Inter.

To find the other French clubs, you have to go much lower in the ranking with Losc 29th, OL 31st as well as AS Monaco and OM at the end of the top 50, in 44th and 47th position respectively. The situation is pathetic for French clubs. For example, we find Bodo/Glimt, Alkmaar or the Rangers ahead of the Monegasques and Marseillais.

Strasbourg in the top 100

Strasbourg, for their part, took advantage of their accession to the semi-finals of the Conference League to move up 10 places in the club rankings to find themselves 97th in Europe, overtaking OGC Nice, now 100th. The Alsatian team is dreaming of a European Cup final, being well-equipped to beat Rayo Vallecano in the next round (first leg in Madrid, return to Meinau).

Four other French clubs are ranked in UEFA after their participation(s) over the last five years: Stade Brestois is 119th, RC Lens 120th, Toulouse FC 121st and FC Nantes 121st.
