Michael Olise broke a very prestigious record with Bayern Munich this Tuesday evening after the victory against Real Madrid (1-2).

There is almost no superlatives regarding Michael Olise’s performance this Tuesday evening in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League. Omnipresent, the Bayern Munich striker was one of the main – if not the main – instigators of the Bavarian success on the pitch of Real Madrid (1-2).

We only had to wait a few minutes for the Frenchman to start making differences from his right side. Spinning, he played against an overwhelmed Alvaro Carreras, increased his dribbling and calls for the ball, then engaged in intense pressing for the entire match.

Olise could even have scored a goal if Andriy Lunin had not stopped his two shots on target. Simple consolation, an assist addressed to Harry Kane for 0-2 (46th). His performance earned him an 8/10 in the columns of The Team – while the Madrid left-back received a 2/10 -, and also allowed him to beat a fourteen-year-old record.

Michael Olise overtakes Franck Ribéry

Thanks to his offering, Michael Olise became the first French player to deliver 25 assists over a season with a club in the five major championships, in official competition, in the 21st century. He thus surpasses a Bayern Munich legend, Franck Ribéry, who had sent 24 in 2011/2012, as recalled
The Team. Coincidentally with the calendar, he celebrated his 43rd birthday this Tuesday.

Arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, the French international (15 caps) has an impressive record of 36 goals and 52 assists in 96 matches played with Bayern.
