This season, Brenford is shining in the Premier League. Currently seventh in the Premier League, the London club is playing well and could reach Europe at the end of the season. However, the residents of the Gtech Community Stadium could be higher according to their boss. Brentford club owner Matthew Benham spoke at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics conference in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday. The opportunity for him to return to several transfers which did not take place. And according to the businessman, the Bees could have recruited Omar Marmoush, Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Mykhailo Mudryk in recent years:

“There will always be some we regret. I was just saying that we could have recruited Eze for 4 million pounds in 2019, I think. We could also have signed Marmoush for free about three years ago. (…) The summer of our promotion to the Premier League, two players were spotted in an absolutely remarkable way. One of them was Mudryk, which could have been a bit complicated if we had signed him, although we were quite close to signing him for a small fee, around 20 million euros. Ultimately, he left for around €80 million, although he is currently serving a doping suspension. Then Michael Olise, his recruitment work was incredible, off the charts, but we had just been promoted and we weren’t used to the exorbitant agent fees in the Premier League at the time. The agency fees were so exorbitant that we gave up, although part of us was like, “well, if you add up the agency fees and the transfer fees, maybe it’s not that bad”, but the agency fees alone were just so excessive that we preferred to give up. There will always be missed opportunities.»
