A reunion in perspective? Eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after a heavy defeat in Bruges (3-0), Roberto De Zerbi left Olympique de Marseille at the beginning of February. A departure from a “common agreement”then explained the Marseille club. A few days later, it was Medhi Benatia’s turn to leave the Marseille ship.

But Frank McCourt finally managed to convince the former Moroccan international to reconsider his decision. The manager should therefore stay at OM until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
“For many reasons, I could not abandon the club in these conditions. It’s a club that is dear to me, where I trained. I accepted the owner’s request to stay until the end of the season, out of a sense of responsibility.”explained Medhi Benatia in an interview with Sunday Newspaper.

Benatia tracked in England?

However, the De Zerbi-Benatia duo could well reform. According to information from Football MediaTottenham would be interested in the profile of the former defender. His internal work in Marseille and his knowledge of international football would appeal to Spurs, who would monitor his situation carefully and could offer him an important role in their sporting organization.

A scenario which would open the door to a reunion with Roberto De Zerbi in England. Because if Igor Tudor succeeded Thomas Frank on the London bench, he would not have succeeded in rectifying the situation and would already be weakened, according to The Telegraph. Tottenham would even consider taking advantage of the next international break to part with it. It remains to be seen who would end the season on the bench, but for the long term, the path leading to Roberto De Zerbi would be studied.
