Last summer, Dušan Vlahović was clearly no longer certain of continuing the adventure with Juventus. As exclusively revealed at the end of August, the Serbian striker’s case then saw major progress, particularly on the side of AC Milan. A new meeting took place between the Lombard club and the Vlahović clan, with exchanges considered very positive by both parties. Seduced by the Milan project, the Serbian international was even willing to lower his salary demands, accepting the idea of an annual salary of 8 million euros in order to facilitate his arrival at the Rossoneri. Massimiliano Allegri, then coach of Juventus, was actively pushing internally and had increased his calls to the player. Juventus, for its part, was preparing to discuss with Vlahović’s entourage to organize a departure in the best possible conditions, without losing too much money, while the player claimed part of his remaining salary as compensation.
AC Milan also said it was confident and planned to quickly open direct negotiations, a transfer which then seemed imminent… before finally collapsing due to yet another disagreement between Juve and the Serb’s entourage. Remaining in Turin, Dušan Vlahović was present on the pitch at the start of the season. Until November, the Serb made a thunderous start, notably on the European scene with three goals and an assist in the Champions League, including a striking double against Borussia Dortmund, while adding three goals in Serie A. A dynamic abruptly stopped by a serious injury contracted against Cagliari: a tear in the adductor muscles which forced him to take a long break. Obviously, six months before the end of his contract, this injury has greatly calmed his winter transfer window, much more discreet than expected. Since then, Vlahović has focused on his return, continuing rehabilitation sessions to regain full physical strength.
There is no shortage of calls but…
On and off the pitch, Dušan Vlahović is doing everything possible to return as quickly as possible in order to strengthen an attack which does not completely satisfy Luciano Spalletti. Victim of a significant tear in the left adductor longus joint at the end of November, the Serbian striker is beginning to see the end of the tunnel. But beyond the sporting aspect, the future already seems sealed. Arriving at Juventus during the winter transfer window of January 2022, the marriage between Vlahović and the Old Lady is destined to end. His contract expires on June 30 and according to our information, no discussions for an extension have resumed since last summer and the contractual relationship remains broken, even if the climate is now much calmer than a few months ago. Dušan Vlahović’s month of January was entirely devoted to his rehabilitation and preparation for his return to competition, expected at the end of February (possibly early March). The European play-offs against Galatasaray and the clash against Como are targeted.
At the same time, his entourage began to discreetly survey several clubs with a view to next summer. According to our indiscretions, AC Milan, still looking for offensive reinforcement after the failure of the Jean-Philippe Mateta case, continues to carefully monitor the Serbian’s situation, just like AS Roma, which could be led to find a way out for Artem Dovbyk. Further back, Inter Milan, always on the lookout for €0 shots, also checked the name. While Serbia will not participate in the 2026 World Cup, Vlahović will have the entire summer to refine his return and calmly choose his future destination. At 26, the Belgrade native knows that this choice will be decisive. His time at Juventus, marked by ups and downs under three different coaches, is coming to an end.
Because despite this delicate situation, Dušan Vlahović remains a world-class striker, a real scorer when he is physically at 100%. Recruited in the winter of 2022 from Fiorentina for a very high amount of around 150 million (transfer, bonus, salary and agent commissions included), the Serbian has a record of 64 goals in 162 matches in the Bianconero jersey. According to our information, there is no shortage of mermaids abroad. In Spain, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid have, at one point, monitored his profile. But it is above all England that continues to attract Vlahović, a championship he has been aiming for for several seasons. Tottenham remains attentive to its development, as do Chelsea, while in Germany, Borussia Dortmund also inquired this winter. At the dawn of a pivotal year, Dušan Vlahović’s future is now being written far from Turin.
