Manchester United have clarified their position regarding a historic third spell for Cristiano Ronaldo at the club, as the Saudi Pro League’s asking price for the striker was revealed.

Ronaldo is in open conflict with the Pro League, a conflict which led him to boycott the last two Al Nassr matches, a form of strike.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star believes his side have not enjoyed the same support in the transfer market as other clubs belonging to the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), putting them at a disadvantage in the title race.

The transfer of Karim Benzema to Al Hilal in particular seems to have been the trigger for his discontent. In addition, he said he was upset by the suspension of several important figures from Al Nassr.

Manchester United refuses Ronaldo’s return

Although Ronaldo is not officially on the transfer market, his contract with Al Nassr includes a €50 million release clause which will have to be activated if he leaves the club this summer, a year before his contract in Saudi Arabia expires.

According to the newspaper i, Manchester United are not interested in Ronaldo’s third spell at Old Trafford. The newspaper confirms previous reports that a move to Sporting CP is more likely, while MLS and the Qatar Stars League are also being mooted as potential destinations for Ronaldo.

Is Ronaldo still worth 50 million euros?

On a sporting level, CR7 is not worth 50 million euros at all. The Portuguese is, however, a unique figure in terms of marketing and visibility. As a result, his impact is not measured solely by his sporting performances, which explains the record salary he receives in the Saudi Pro League.
