Four months before the 2026 World Cup in North America (June 11-July 19), the competition trophy continues its global journey. After passing the legendary Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the coveted cup sailed to South Africa, Ivory Coast and Morocco with Marcel Desailly as ambassador. Another 1998 world champion will find the Fifa trophy: Fabien Barthez!
The Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola stops in Paris this week and more precisely on Tuesday at the adidas store on the Champs-Elysées (at 88, avenue des Champs-Elysées, near the George V metro station). The general public will be able to see the World Cup trophy in real life from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. And during a ceremony from 9 p.m., it is “Fabulous Fab” who will unveil the Holy Grail of footballers.
Fabien Barthez World Cup record holder
Barthez is obviously one of the heroes of the France team at the 1998 World Cup, during the very first coronation in the history of the French selection, at the end of a final won 3-0 against Brazil in Saint-Denis. Young goalkeeper for OM, winner of the 1993 Champions League, the player trained in Toulouse established himself as a reference at AS Monaco and was promoted to number 1 by Aimé Jacquet just before the 98 World Cup at the expense of Bernard Lama.
Winner of Euro 2000 two years later then unfortunate finalist of the 2006 World Cup against Italy on penalties, Fabien Barthez made 87 caps from 1994 to 2006. He was also voted best goalkeeper in the Premier League in 2001 during his (contrasted) stint at Manchester United and remains the co-record holder with Peter Shilton for the number of clean sheets
in the World Cup.
To accompany Fabien Barthez, the Parisian evening of the Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will welcome the rapper brothers from Toulouse Bigflo and Oli for a showcase.
