Roma must do without Lorenzo Pellegrini for several weeks. According to Sky Italiathe midfielder stopped training on December 24 at Trigoria due to a muscular problem. Examinations revealed a second-degree injury to the left biceps femoris, with an estimated return of between three and four weeks. This is the first muscular problem of the season for Pellegrini, who had already been forced to stop last spring following surgery on the rectus femoris muscle. Against Genoa, he could be replaced on the pitch by Paulo Dybala, or by Stephan El Shaarawy if the Argentinian were to play further forward.
Pellegrini will miss at least the matches against Genoa, Atalanta, Lecce and Sassuolo in Serie A, as well as the round of 16 first leg of the Italian Cup against Torino, and the Europa League match against Stuttgart on January 22. His effective return could be considered just before the clash against AC Milan.
