PSG: Gabriel Moscardo still can’t do it…

Along with Lucas Beraldo, Gabriel Moscardo was one of the bets of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2024 winter transfer window. Recruited for €20 million, the former Corinthians midfielder, now 20 years old, however, did not have the opportunity, like Beraldo, to start with the Rouge et Bleu first team. Injured in the foot and operated on just after his official signing for PSG, Moscardo arrived in France during the summer of 2024 before packing up immediately. Barred by XXL competition in the midfield, the native of Taubaté was sent on loan to Stade de Reims. A club that PSG knows well since its president, Jean-Pierre Caillot, is close to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

Unfortunately for the player, hip and hamstring injuries, as well as a call-up to Brazil at the U20 Copa América, only allowed him to play 10 matches (1 goal) with the Champagne team. Before playing the final of the Coupe de France against PSG, Moscardo, however, recalled his intact desire to prove himself in the capital. “For the moment, I’m only thinking about Reims, but of course it will be special. I want to play and show all the French that I am a good player and also show PSG that I can play there next season..

Always hungry playing time

Logically not retained by the SDR, the Brazilian returned to Paris and flew with the Rouge et Bleu for the Club World Cup, a competition in which he attended without playing a single minute. With no future at PSG, Moscardo, whose contract runs until 2028, was then loaned to one of the clubs in the QSI galaxy, SC Braga. But here again, the young 20-year-old player is struggling to break through. A little more spared from physical problems, the Brazilian only made 15 appearances, in all competitions, for a total playing time of 486 minutes (and 3 small starts), or around 32 minutes played per match.

On November 11, spectators at the Allianz Riviera were able to see him against OGC Nice during a Europa League match won 1-0 by the Portuguese. But it was brief, as the midfielder only played four minutes. An inglorious result therefore, even if Moscardo was counting on last night’s Portuguese Cup match against a third division team, Caldas SC, to grab some playing time. The Brazilian was lined up from the start and even played the entire match. The midfielder participated in the success of his team (3-0) by delivering a decisive pass in the 50th minute despite a first period “ghostly” according to O Jogo. A meager reward, but it’s still worth it…
