Juventus continues to harbor the admittedly complex ambition of bringing Sandro Tonali back to Serie A. According to La Gazzetta dello Sportthe Newcastle midfielder remains a priority target for the Bianconeri leaders, despite his recent extension until 2029 and a price set around 80 to 85 million euros. Seduced by the idea of a return to Italy, Tonali would see Juventus as the only credible option, but Newcastle would only be willing to negotiate if there was a clear request from the player. Due to a lack of immediate means for a definitive transfer, Juve would study an arrangement including a loan with option or obligation to purchase conditional on qualification for the Champions League.
In this matter, Jonathan David could play a key role. The Canadian striker, who arrived last summer in Italy, is struggling to find his place and his salary is part of Turin’s new salary policy. Indeed, the possibility of an expansion of discussions with Newcastle, in which David could serve as a partial bargaining chip in order to facilitate the Tonali operation. A hypothesis which would allow Juventus to make a transfer deemed strategic more accessible, both to strengthen the midfield and to offer the group a new technical leader.
