PSG offers a constructed action and the ball reaches Zaire-Emery, positioned at the entrance to the area. The young French international tries a quick shot, right foot, and it is Betancur who counters.
The Parisians held the ball during these first moments, facing Spurs who pressed very hard. Spaces are non-existent.
Felix Zwayer, the main referee of the match, kicks off the first period.
For Tottenham, the program after Paris is as follows: reception of Slavia Prague (Dec. 9), reception of Borussia Dortmund (Jan. 20), trip to Frankfurt (Jan. 28).
Small point in the calendar: after this match against Tottenham, PSG will have to pay a quick visit to Athletic Bilbao in two weeks. He will end his European journey in January with another trip to the field of Sporting Lisbon (on the 20th) and the reception of Newcastle (on the 28th).
Note that the two teams had already met, at the very start of the season, during the very honorary European Super Cup. In Udine, on August 13, PSG won on penalties (2-2, tab: 4-3) after being down 2-0.
In the ranks of Tottenham, Thomas Frank made no less than five changes compared to Sunday’s non-match on the Arsenal field (4-1): Kudus, Odobert, Palhinha, Udogie and Danso all left the eleven, in favor of Kolo Muani (on loan from PSG), Sarr, Bergvall, Porro and Gray. It seems that Spurs remain five behind (with the last two mentioned but also Romero, Van de Ven and Spence), while the system could switch to 5-3-2 (instead of the Sunday 5-4-1) with a Kolo Muani – Richarlison duo in front. Already on the bench against Arsenal, Simons (another former Parisian) does not move from this place at kick-off.
UEFA has just revealed the team compositions and, on the Parisian side, Dembélé starts well on the bench. Luis Enrique, deprived of Doué and Hakimi, reserved a little surprise with the start of the young Ndjantou (18 years old), surely to accompany Kvaratskhelia and Barcola up front (Lee, Ramos and Mayulu are replacements). The Asturian technician, on the other hand, recovers his typical midfielder (Neves, Vitinha and Ruiz) while Zaire-Emery still takes over as interim right-back. Note the presence of Marquinhos with Pacho in central defense, for his 500th career in the PSG jersey.
In video: Tottenham’s 4-0 against Copenhagen on the last day. You may have seen it several times already but you may or may not be able to appreciate this fantastic goal from defender Micky van de Ven, “à la Gareth Bale”, again.
For its part, Tottenham must deal with a host of absentees in Paris. First there are the six not registered during this first phase of C1: Maddison, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Dragusin and Takai (injured) as well as Tel (sidelined). There is also Solanke (injured since the end of August) and Johnson (suspended).
Effective point: PSG records this Wednesday the return to the group of Dembélé. The 2025 Ballon d’Or missed PSG’s last two matches, being released early against Bayern three weeks ago (25 minutes of play). The Parisian striker could start on the bench while Doué and Hakimi are still injured.
In terms of dynamics, PSG beat Le Havre this weekend (3-0) and kept their two points ahead of OM and Lens in Ligue 1. Conversely, Tottenham fell heavily on the field of Arsenal (4-1), after a failed performance, but the Spurs, ninth, are “only” two points behind Aston Villa (the 4th) in the Premier League.
Rather spared during the draw, Tottenham is currently one length behind PSG. Spurs are undefeated after four days (two wins, two draws): 1-0 against Villarreal, 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt, 0-0 with Monaco then 4-0 against Copenhagen three weeks ago.
After three convincing victories from the start, against Atalanta Bergamo (4-0), FC Barcelona (1-2) and Bayer Leverkusen (2-7), PSG experienced its first defeat on the last day. It was at home against Bayern Munich (1-2), first out of thirty-six in the standings for this regular phase.
