Four days before the end of the C1 league phase, French clubs are now informed of the number of points to obtain to qualify for the play-offs.

Nothing is yet decided for French clubs during this 2025/2026 Champions League campaign. If Paris – barring a huge turnaround – is almost guaranteed to participate at least in the play-offs next February, thanks to its three victories in four matches (9 points, 5th place in the standings), AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille still have to prove themselves.

This is at least Opta’s observation. The statistics specialist has revealed new predictions concerning the outcome of the C1 league phase. And France could lose one of its representatives if these projections are believed.

Obviously, PSG will be among those qualified. Opta sees the Parisian club finish in the top 8, synonymous with direct participation in the round of 16 of the competition, with 16.65 points collected. In other words, Luis Enrique’s men will have to aim for at least two victories and a draw in the last four matches (7 points) – against Tottenham (this Wednesday, 9 p.m.), Athletic Bilbao (December 12), Sporting Portugal (January 20) as well as against Newcastle (January 28) – to prove the English company right. In total, 15 points are necessary to reach the top of the table.

OM not qualified?

For the other two French teams, the task will be more complicated according to Opta. Especially for Marseille. The team led by Roberto De Zerbi is only 25th in the standings, with only three points on the clock (one victory, three defeats in four matches). A revival is expected this Tuesday evening at home against Newcastle (9:00 p.m.) if the Olympians hope to make the play-offs and not be eliminated so early. OM are therefore five to six points short of securing a 24th place promised to any club collecting around nine points.

Finally, AS Monaco should continue the European adventure next February. The Monegasques (19th, 5 points) were placed in the top 24 by Opta. More precisely in 20th place for 10.12 points scored. Paul Pogba’s teammates will have the opportunity to further ensure qualification by beating the Cypriots of Pafos (Wednesday, 9 p.m.), currently 20th in the league phase and therefore a direct competitor.
