Thunderbolt in Barcelona. Arriving in the summer of 2024 on the Barça bench, Hansi Flick is already thinking of packing his bags. According to information from the Spanish media ABCthe German coach would have confided to his staff, as early as last September, his intention to leave the club at the end of the 2025-2026 season, one year before the end of his contract. Physically and mentally exhausted, he would have difficulty coping with his experience in Catalonia.
Still according to ABC, Flick has not yet broached the subject with its president Joan Laporta nor with sports director Deco, with whom he nevertheless maintains good relations. His desire to leave would not be linked to sporting results, but to a deep internal discomfort.
The former Bayern Munich coach would feel little supported by his management. He would criticize the board of directors for a lack of firmness and consistency in the management of the group, which would harm the discipline and rigor that he has tried to impose since his arrival. Flick says he is disoriented by an atmosphere that he considers
“lax” within the Catalan club.
Lamine Yamal, privileges that annoy
The German technician would also be “ very frustrated by the attitude of some of his players”which he judges “scattered”. Accustomed to extreme demands, he would struggle to cope with a locker room that he considers too lax. One of the cases that particularly annoys him would be that of Lamine Yamal, despite their good relations.
Flick would not understand the privileges granted to the young nugget. He would deplore that Barça gives in to all his whims, creating an imbalance in the locker room. ABC cites several examples: an authorized trip to Milan after the Clasico; his behavior at the table, where he would wait to be served by the staff; or his freedom to use golf carts normally reserved for staff at the training center. So many details which, if accumulated, would have ended up eroding Hansi Flick’s patience.
