First defeat of the season for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. This Tuesday, Luis Enrique’s men fell at home against Bayern Munich (1-2). Authors of an impressively intense first period, the Bavarians asphyxiated their opponents. Reduced to ten, they resisted just enough to preserve their victory. On the Parisian side, the evening was catastrophic since Ousmane DembĂ©lĂ© and Achraf Hakimi came out injured.
The Parisian supporters who came to fill the stands of the Parc des Princes were expecting a spectacle. They were served. But not in a good way during a first period entirely dominated by the visitors. From the fourth minute of play, Luis Diaz crucified Lucas Chevalier after a perfect counterattack from Bayern (0-1). In the twenty-second minute, Ousmane Dembélé thought he would equalize, but he was well offside.
Three minutes later, another hard blow for Paris and for its 2025 Ballon d’Or. DembĂ©lĂ©’s right hamstring acted up again, as it has for many weeks now, forcing him to come out to be replaced by Kang-in Lee (25th). Groggy, PSG suffered a new uppercut with Luis Diaz’s double (0-2, 32nd).
PSG loses Hakimi and the match
Definitely the man of this first period, the Colombian then distinguished himself in a very bad way. Author of a killer tackle on Achraf Hakimi, he took away the left ankle of the Moroccan side. In tears, the latter came out, supported by Willian Pacho and a member of the medical staff. Big concern about him while waiting for the medical verdict. The VAR called the central referee who transformed the initial yellow card into red against Luis Diaz (45th + 7).
The second period came down to an attack-defense in favor of Paris. By pushing, the locals managed to reduce the gap thanks to a magnificent recovery from Joao Neves on a cross from Kang-in Lee (1-2, 74th). PSG multiplied the chances (19 shots, including 8 on target) during this second act, without managing to equalize. This first defeat in the league phase leaves PSG in provisional third place, while Bayern Munich joins Arsenal at the top of the standings.
