Wolverhampton have officially sacked their coach Vitor Pereira, after the heavy defeat conceded on Saturday at Fulham (0-3). The English club is going through a nightmare start to the season, with ten consecutive games without a win in the Premier League and only two points taken out of thirty possible. Dead last in the standings, with the worst defense and the weakest attack in the championship, the Wolves are now eight points behind the retention zone. Pereira’s ouster ends an eleven-month mandate, which began in December 2024 after the departure of Gary O’Neil. The Portuguese technician saved the club last season thanks to a series of six consecutive victories. Despite the support shown by president Jeff Shi and a contract extension obtained this summer, the former coach of FC Porto did not survive this catastrophic start to the season, thus leaving a sixth consecutive position before term.
“The Wolves parted ways with their head coach, Vitor Pereira, after a start to the 2025-2026 season without a single victory. Upon his arrival at Molineux last December, Pereira and his staff made an immediate impact, leading the team to a successful second half of the Premier League season. However, the results and performances of this new season are judged to be below acceptable standards, and a change at the head of the team was therefore deemed necessary. All eight members of Pereira’s technical staff have also left the club. Under-21 coach James Collins and Under-18 coach Richard Walker will lead training pending the appointment of the new first team head coach.we can read in the club press release.
