A former great Séléçao talent who played for Santos, Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan, Robinho ended his career in 2020, after completing a final stint in Turkey at Istanbul Basaksehir.

Since then, the 41-year-old Brazilian has spent his nights in prison. Found guilty of rape by the Italian justice system in 2014 for acts dating from 2013 (when he played in Milan), the former Auriverde international is serving a nine-year prison sentence in Brazil.

In a video broadcast by the Tremembé penitentiary center (located in the state of São Paulo) on its account InstagramRobinho revealed his daily life as a prisoner. “ My diet, my sleeping hours, everything is identical to that of the other inmates. I never ate any different food, I never received any different treatment. During my working hours, I do everything that other inmates can do here. When we want to play football, we are allowed to do so when there is no work on Sunday. I have never benefited from any particular advantage. Tours take place on Saturday or Sunday. When my wife doesn't come alone, she comes with my children. The eldest plays and the two youngest can come. The visits are the same and the treatment is the same for everyone. The lies that are circulating that I am a leader, that I have psychological problems,” he said at first.

Before continuing: “I've never had this, I've never had to take medication, thank God. Despite the difficulty of being in a prison, which is normal, but thank God, I have always had a good head on my shoulders and I do everything that every other prisoner can do. Here, the objective is to re-educate, to re-socialize those who have made mistakes. I've never had any type of leadership here or anywhere else. Here, the guards are in charge, as I told you, and we, the inmates, simply obey. »
