After Jamal Musiala and Alexander Pavlović, a brand new gem has just emerged from Campus Bayern. Arriving in Munich in 2022, Lennart Karl rose through the ranks brilliantly, successively through the U17s then the U19s before joining the professional group last summer, during the Club World Cup. Although he had only played 45 minutes during the competition, the 17-year-old winger had already made an impression with his dazzling performances: speed, confusing dribbling and sense of the game. Many qualities which convinced Vincent Kompany to open the doors to the first team for him.

Starting for the first time in the German Cup in mid-August against Wehen Wiesbaden (2-3 ap), the native of Frammersbach then grabbed playing time in the Bundesliga, often in the role of a joker (six appearances, one start). Entrances full of energy which pushed Kompany to trust him on Wednesday evening, in the Champions League, against Club Brugge (4-0). An opportunity that the young winger did not miss: he not only justified his status as a great promise, but also wrote the first line of his European history.

Already a precocity record broken with Bayern

In the 5th minute, Tah served Karl with a full-axis pass. The young Bavarian then cleared a defender with a left hook before delivering a dry and unstoppable strike for Nordin Jackers. An achievement duly celebrated by the public at the Allianz Arena. Lennart Karl had just scored his very first professional goal, during his first start in C1. At just 17 years and 242 days old, he became the youngest goalscorer in the history of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

And as happiness never comes alone, Karl continued his momentum in the championship this Saturday. Coming on in the 76th minute against Borussia Mönchengladbach, he only needed four minutes to strike again: after recovering a ball at the edge of the area, he fired a powerful shot from the right to seal the victory for Bayern (0-3). A lightning performance that made Kompany smile. “ He has scored two goals in a row, he is in good momentum. When there is a lot of hype, the main thing is to have a calm environment and continue working. And when there is criticism, we must do the same thing. Everything will be fine for Lenny », assured the Belgian technician. If competition remains fierce in the Munich offensive sector, Karl's performances could well open the way to a lasting place in the rotation. It is now up to him to confirm his excellent debut.
